Here are some websites that might be helpful to anyone looking into healthcare management:
American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE): www.ache.org This is the main organizational body for healthcare executive (or administrators, or managers). At some point in
your career, you will probably want to become a fellow (FACHE) within this organization.
This is actually run by the ACHE and is geared towards students or early careerists.
Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME): www.cahme.org There are many educational routes to becoming a healthcare administrator (see career info above). One way
is to get a Masters in Healthcare Administration (or similar degree). This is the accreditation body for such
programs. You can search through lists of accredited schools to find the right one for you.
NOTE: there are many schools that offer MHA programs that are not accredited--just so you know.
You can search BYU's Alumni database for people in healthcare administration. You need a RouteY ID and
password. Alumni in this database provide their information voluntarily because they want to help BYU
students succeed. Is there are better way to get information and make contacts than through BYU alumni?
Possibly. But this is a great way none-the-less.
